I got a really kind comment from Kate the other day asking me to blog again. I'd been out of the blogosphere for so long that I didn't even know they'd adopted a sweet little girl. Congratulations, Kate & Landon & Lula!
For the sake of diving back in, I thought I'd start with an obvious and most recent development: I, uh, went blonde? I'd been dying my hair black for so long that I decided I wanted a change. A BIG change. And the process to get this light was really awful.
But these pictures kind of make me feel better about it.
I fried my ends after doing ombre for so long that I just had to chop them off. And there's still a lot of warm streaks in my hair, and then some blue/green streaks from where the ash toner kind of bit right in and wouldn't let go. Because I wasn't trying to go blonde, but that silver/grey that's really hip right now. That's why my roots look grey. They were the only success. But um, I like it? Question mark? This happened only three days so I'm still kind of reeling from how much I hate bleach. I hate bleach. And if I truly want to achieve my silver end goal, more bleach needs to get involved, but . . . no. No more.
Other life updates:
We bought a house!
The children have continued to age and grow and poop!
I'm now the RS Secretary!
Seve shaved his beard and grew it back in again!
The new Blonde Redhead album is so good!
The film adaptation for Horns was so bad! So bad!
And, well, I'll be blogging again for a bit. It feels good to blog right now.

Otoplasty
In third grade, a boy once read aloud to the entire class a love poem he had written and dedicated to me, the only line of which I recall being "And I love your big Dumbo ears." Though this boy was showering me and my ears with tender affection, I later showered my pillow that night with tears. Up until that point I had felt fine allowing my mother to twist my hair into tight braids the occasional morning before school, but from then on I made sure my hair was always down and styled in a manner that hid the two wind sails on either side of my head.
For years I considered otoplasty, the surgery that pins sticky-outty ears back. I've come to embrace my other physical "goofs;" my large nose, complete lack of height, and small bosoms, but my ears have never failed to embarrass me when exposed.
Until I married Seve. Once again I have a boy showering my ears with love and affection, but this time my pillow is free from water works and able to enjoy several dry nights of sleep. As I walk around with my twin shutters wide open and bare to the world, I often recognize the look of "ugh doesn't she realize how much her ears stick out?" from friends and strangers alike, but if she can do it, why can't I? Of course the benefits of otoplasty still cross my mind when I pass my reflection, but for now, I'm content learning to love my little Wicked Witches of the East and West.
Oh, and I love my new baby boy.

Hey There, Four Eyes!
I recently received some glasses from Warby Parker. If you have terrible vision (I'm at -4.something in each eye) and a flair for obnoxiously thick glasses, this site lets you choose five pairs to be shipped to you at no cost to try on at home before you buy. They're also hip like TOMS in that when you buy a pair, another gets shipped to a less-monetarily-fortunate and vision-impaired individual in need. After receiving my five, I've narrowed it down to these two:
The Fillmore
Pros: fits my face very well (as in nice and snug), ridiculously hip right now
Cons: might be too much of a novelty, more quirky than attractive on me
The Colton
Pros: Fashionably classic, attractive on me
Cons: not as snug as I'd like--they slide forward when I look down, but this can be fixed
And here are some crappy photos courtesy of my camera phone:
Thoughts? I've got some: I seriously need a bang trim.

The Bowl
Hey guyz! So I went in requesting style #3 and, bless her heart, the stylist somehow ended up giving me style #1. Which I thought I could never pull off, yet here I am . . . rocking the BOWL.
That's right, I MySpaced it up and took some sexy photos of the BOWL. With NO SHAME in my bathroom (thus the towel) as I waited for Seve to come home and experience the BOWL firsthand. I realize it's more of a heavy bang than it is a bowl, but . . . it's only the greatest cut of my lifetime, that's what.I know I already posted a Camera Obscura song, but . . .
