Wolf Wolf & Wolf

Just bought this Wolf Totem for our nursery from Bark Decor. It's a flour sack towel, but it's so large I see no problem using it as a receiving blanket, wall hanging, sheet thing, whatever. I'm thinking of also picking up the Ghost/Banjo Owl and Catalope; what do you think? Too much?

Strange love, strange misery

This summer has been so wonderful, I don't want it to end.

It all really hit me the other night at my baby shower (pictures to come soon; thank you Chelse & Kenz!) that we'll be leaving Rexburg in a month and closing a pretty significant chapter of our lives. We’ve been compiling a bucket list of things to do one last time before we leave (Big Jud’s, Yellowstone, Slide Hill) and things we’re surprised we’ve never done in the first place out here (sand dunes, caves, Mesa Falls).

More importantly, we’ve been reminiscing on things we’ve already done, whether we would have thought to include them on a bucket list or not. Like one time when I walked straight into a moose's snout, or when I longboarded down a hill in a bikini only to roll my ankle. Or our first date to the Teton Flood Museum where I talked the whole time and Seve laughed at all my dumb jokes. When Seve had to shave the top of his head for a play, but keep the sides long and bleached. When we camped on the roof of our building, when we saw Joshua James, when we flung water balloons into an unsuspecting baseball game, when we snuck around the Ferrin Heights apartment building only to later get married and become tenants there.

It was always strange to watch friends move away one by one, though that's the nature of things in a college town. Now it's our turn.

Rexburg, I’ll miss you.

Nursery Inspiration

When you find out you're having a little one, I highly recommend stopping by Lay Baby Lay for some nursery inspiration. Seve and I want a lumberjack-themed nursery; here's a little inspiration board I've created LBL-style. Some of these things we already have, some we're registered for, and some I can only dream about . . .
  1. Cardboard Deer Head
  2. Nickel Pendant Light
  3. Blue Mountain Pillow
  4. Sleigh Crib
  5. Grizzly Doll
  6. Red Rocking Chair
  7. Teddy Bear Hat
  8. Highlander Plaid Rug
  9. "Grow a Beard!" Print
  10. Blue Frame
  11. Owl Pillow
  12. Century Dresser
  13. Red Gingham Coverlet

So much past inside my present

I love the ad agency I work at with all my heart.

I am a copywriter. When most people ask what I do for a living and I respond with this, they assume I'm referring to legal copyright and that I somehow spend all my time with the © symbol.

"Copy" basically refers to the text on print ads, brochures, television/radio scripts, etc. It's the words to back up the visuals in advertising; the "Just Do It" to the Nike swoosh, the snarky "Lather, Rinse, Luxuriate, Repeat," on the back of a shampoo bottle. A copywriter is the person who replaces the "lorem ipsum" with real content when a graphic designer sends them an ad, or we send them the copy and they use that to create a visual. A copywriter, as the name suggests, writes copy.

Seve and I will be moving soon. He'll be graduating, I'll be leaving my job, we'll be having a baby. My title of breadwinner will be transferred to him, and my title of copywriter will disappear for the time being.

Though I deal with copy everyday, I can't find the words to explain how much I'm going to miss my job and the people I work with. Watching new projects bloom and relationships form with new clients is hard to swallow because I know I won't be part of it all in a month's time. As excited as I am to move with Seve, to be a mother, to start something new, I can't help but feel that a very significant part of my life is withering away, and I'm already mourning its loss.
